For more information: Follow @arconic: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube JOB SUMMARY: The CNC Machine Operator (Machining) operates various manual and CNC machines needed to produce a wide array of sonic turbine discs and dies that meets or exceeds our customer s specifications. Essential Functions: This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
  • Layout work from blueprints, work orders, and other specifications.
  • Set up jobs on a variety of parts and maintain specified overall tolerances.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy during machining process using precision measuring instruments such as veneer calipers, micrometers and gauges.
  • Application of shop mathematics to perform accurate job set ups on a variety of machine tools. More advanced set ups may require more advanced mathematical applications such as geometric and trigonometric formulas.
  • Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cuts.
  • Use chip cutting principles (tooling selection/control, feeds and speeds, use of inspection gauges, etc.) to efficiently and safely machine discs into prescribed tolerances/dimensions.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
  • Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work various shifts that support a 24/7 operation

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Production and Processing Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Operation and Control Controlling operations of equipment or systems. Operation Monitoring Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Quality Control Analysis Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. Reading Comprehension Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Critical Thinking Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Speaking Talking to others to convey information effectively. Troubleshooting Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it. Basic functions of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to operate a forklift and man lift to O. S. H. A approved standards. Physical Demands:
  • Continuously required to wear common Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Hard Hats.
  • Continuously required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to sit.

Work Location/Environmental Requirements: Nickel and titanium manufacturing facility. Exposure to: moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration; loud noise levelQualificationsBasic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 1-year experience measuring parts using various inspection tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers)
  • Minimum 1-year experience setting up and operating manual machines, including; lathes, mills, saws drills, etc.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U. S. person status. ITAR defines U. S> person as an U. S. Citizen, U. S> Permanent Resident (i. e. Green Card Holder ), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ year experience from work in a manufacturing environment or from a technical or craft certification program
  • Previous military and/or mechanical experience related to hydraulic maintenance is a plus.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
